The Arcade Fire at Madison Square Garden
Last night’s Arcade Fire show was impressive. They didn’t come on until after 10, since there were two opening bands (missed the first one, but Spoon was great, too), and they played a great set.
The band seems to be very angry, shouting dark lyrics and banging instruments, but they are having a great time being mad.
With so many people on stage, so many instruments and so much noise...

Kurt Vile
I saw Kurt Vile open for Big Star.
He’s got long hair that’s in front of his face most of the time and it’s obvious he loves music and is not afraid to take risks. Just got his 2 albums and I am really intrigued. They have a really raw sound reminiscent of the Velvet Underground.
Freeway is a cool tune.
Didn't make it to any Dylan shows...
Damn it! I heard they were amazing.
Dylan, 3 nights @ United Palace!
The greatest songwriter of all time will be performing 3 nights in the very intimate United Palace Theater on Tues, Wed, and Thurs. Hope to be at one of these.
Dramarama in Asbury Park, this weekend
I’ve still never seen John Easdale or Dramarama live eventhough they’ve played New Jersey plenty of times since I started going to shows. This Saturday night, 11/14, they are at Wonder Bar in Asbury and I will probably miss them again. Damn. I usually like collecting a band’s discogaphy, but in this case I recommend their Best of collection.

Devendra Banhart, new record
Devendra’s new record is called What Will We Be. I am enjoying the Baby EP which is 3 songs from the album and I’m excited for the release of the full length.
He always has great album art…
Tracks:
01 “Can’t Help” 02 “Angelika” 03 “Baby” 04 “Goin’ Back To The Place” 05 “First Song For B” 06...
...but Dylan's Jewish!?
This album isn’t worth any Jew’s time. Skip it.
Dylan was born Jewish and in May 1954 he had his Bar Mitzvah, however in the late 1970s he became a born-again Christian.

Where The Wild Things Aren't!
If I see one more positive review for Where The Wild Things Are (aka ‘wild things’) I may tear it up. Nothing too drastic…I just don’t agree. Yeah, it’s true…it’s a ‘real life’ kid’s movie which is rare these days with the growth of animation technology…but I’m sorry, it’s not as cool. (Have you seen the trailer to...

The 33rpm Vinyl Long Player - A Short History →
The 33rpm Vinyl Long Player, or LP as we know it today, began its life in 1948 as a replacement for the more fragile 78rpm shellac discs. The main benefits of the vinyl LP were improved durability and the capacity to record up to 30 minutes of music on each side. However, it wasn’t until the mid-1950’s, and the birth of Rock N Roll, that sales of vinyl LP’s began to escalate. Pressings from the...
