Where The Wild Things Aren’t!

If I see one more positive review for Where The Wild Things Are (aka ‘wild things’) I may tear it up. Nothing too drastic…I just don’t agree. Yeah, it’s true…it’s a ‘real life’ kid’s movie which is rare these days with the growth of animation technology…but I’m sorry, it’s not as cool. (Have you seen the trailer to A Christmas Carol directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring an animated Jim Carey?). My main gripe with the film is that it couldn’t stay true to a ten sentence story? 1, the mysterious forest and sea are supposed to grow inside his room! and 2, I think that book Max is way more angry and bad ass than movie Max. Also, nothing happens throughout the movie. Nothing happens in the book either, but the book’s way shorter!

Saw this the day it came out, at an odd time 3:50 pm (I’m on staycation). Theater wasn’t packed or anything. Also, I should mention it because it’s a big topic of conversation right now - I didn’t think the movie was scary but the little girl behind me was bawling.

The Source is a great documentary on the Beats: Ginsberg, Kerouac, and Burroughs. It’s currently being played on Ovation.
